And we're ready to lean about kitchen rules.
First our class motto:
"This is our house, these are our kitchens. Anything prepared by us, will be for us. So lets keep it clean and organized so we have what we need, when we need it!"
All kitchens are separated by colors. Everyone will be assigned a group and kitchen (aka, KIT!)
Kit 1 is red
Kit 2 is white
Kit 3 is blue
Kit 4 is green
Kit 5 is yellow
Kit 6 is black
Most if not all of your KIT equipment and pantry items (salt, flour, spices) are labeled with your KIT color. Keep your items in your KIT and everyone will be happy and have everything they need.
Stay in your KIT when we have labs please, your group needs you despite your cooking ability. If you all work as a small group you will get things done faster and have plenty of time to sit and enjoy your creation and have your KIT cleaned and back in order 5 minutes before the bell.
KIT equipment is separated into groups:
All pots and pans used on top of the stove are in one lower cabinet.
All baking equipment used in the oven are in one lower cabinet
All eating utensils are in one pull out drawer
All items used for baking and measuring are in one pull out drawer
All items used to aide you when cooking items on the stove are in one pull out drawer
All plates, cups, bowls and pitchers are in one upper cabinet
All mixing bowls, blenders, sifters, colanders and liquid measuring items are in one upper cabinet
Yup... that's a lot to remember but we will mark our KITS with labels to remember what goes where and all of your KITS have colored stars/tape to remind you which drawer and cabinet belong to your kit.
